For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers,

39

nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
_

Within this past year, we have seen many changes in our world, from violent earthquakes and devastating tsunamis to struggling nations and leaders losing control. It is disheartening to even wonder why God would even allow such things to happen.

But the beauty behind Romans 8:38–39 is the fact that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him. God's love extends pass any trouble or hardship or persecution or famine. When we begin to fathom the greatness of His love, we begin to place ourselves in the right perspective that nothing can separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Even when we sin greatly and our hearts are far away from God, His grace and love goes further still. He stretches out and searches for us until He finds us.

May we come to experience more of this kind of unconditional and boundless love God has in store for us at this conference.

Workshop #1 (Dec 28th): Next Gen Ministry—Past Perils and Broken Promises
E121(A)

The silent exodus of next generation has been going on in the Chinese church for decades. It's time to face the music and tell the truth about this. Confession is not only good for the soul—it is necessary in order to find healing and hope. This workshop invites next generation participants to share and examine with one another the frustrations and hurts as well as the positive experiences in the Chinese church in order to find healing and follow God in the present. It is about honestly facing the past but also moving forward into the future. Bring your baggage as well as an open mind.

Workshop #2 (Dec 29th): Next Gen Ministry—Present Tense
E221(A)

What are the issues that will make the difference between a thriving next generation congregation within a Chinese church or a dying one? Is our church a healthy environment for the next gen? This session is designed to deal with the core values that will sustain next generation ministry in the Chinese church and may be of interest to those in English and Cantonese/Mandarin congregations who want to evaluate their church situations.

Workshop #3 (Dec 30th): Next Gen Ministry—Possibilities
E321(A)

Is there a future for the next generation in the Chinese church? Are we going to keep doing the same old thing or are there avenues we can explore that God is inviting us to? This is a workshop on examining the multiple options available in sustaining the missional ministry of the next generation both within and beyond the Chinese church for the kingdom. It is meant to instil a sense of hope as well as explore practical directions.

Workshop #1 (Dec 28th): Testimony
E122(A)

What many would consider their worst nightmare has become a reality for Christopher Yuan. While attending dental school, he began living promiscuously as a homosexual and experimenting with illicit drugs. Within a few years, he was expelled from dental school, imprisoned for drug dealing and discovered that he was HIV positive. But God has turned his nightmare into an exciting and inspiring story of redemption, grace and transformation.

Workshop #2 (Dec 29th): Love & Homosexuality: Affirmation or Obedience?
E222(A)

There is nothing greater than love. How can Christians deny the love between two people? Does love really demand the affirmation of homosexuality? Setting aside the six disputed passages on homosexuality, Christopher uses personal experience, biblical theology and the entire canon of Scripture to show how true love compels us toward obedience and holiness. Correctly using love, has been the most powerful way to respond to gay-affirming theology.

Workshop #3 (Dec 30th): Single Minded—Living Single & Content.
E322(A)

Many Christian singles feel like second-class citizens. Persistent questions from parents and friends pressure singles to get married, because doesn't marriage bring happiness? But what does the Bible say about singleness? What does it mean to be called to singleness? Can one be single and truly content?

Pete Chung
English Teens Workshop Speaker

Originally from South Korea, Pete hails from the suburbs outside of Washington D.C., Fairfax, Virginia. He moved to Vancouver three years ago to pursue an education at Regent College and start ministry with youth at Surrey Presbyterian Church. He is currently the youth and young adult pastor at Surrey Presbyterian Church. He had the privilege of marrying his lovely wife Christina in May, 2009 and this past October 7th welcomed his son Mason to the world. Pete is a passionate individual whose passions are both vast and intense. Of them, a few stand out: being an authentic Christian for Jesus in today's world by living the life Jesus gives, his wife Christina and son Mason, sports of all kinds (both participating and as a fan), especially basketball and football, the Dallas Cowboys, FOOD (finding, eating, creating and sharing) and good music (old school R&B, Jason Mraz, Shane and Shane, GOOD hip-hop). His "thing" is simply to be where God wants Him to be, regardless of what, where, when, how and who, that might involve. His hope is that all people would understand this about themselves: to know who God has created them to be, to realize the freedom and life in Christ through a genuine discipleship with Christ, resulting in an authentic and real life that both transcends and encounters the world as it is. Who are we for Jesus, today?

Workshop #1 (Dec 28th): Dating is Beautiful! If Done Properly of Course!
E111(T)

What's the big deal about dating? Why does everyone get so heated about it? Why is there so much pressure? Why is admitting to someone you are attracted to and interested such a dangerous thing? Dating can indeed be BEAUTIFUL and AMAZING and fairly SIMPLE! What? Did I just type that? You know it! If done right, I believe everyone should enjoy the treasure that is a dating relationship! Are you ready??? Let's discover together the beauty of relationships and love the way God intended. Stop searching for THE ONE; become THE ONE.

Workshop #2 (Dec 29th): Dreaming Big: Future Aspirations or Current Reality?
E211(T)

What are you living for? What is your dream? Does your dream look something like this: get into a good university, get a good job, marry the one, raise a great family and live for God (whatever that actually means)? What about Jesus' call for us to make disciples of all nations? What if dreaming big isn't something far off in the future but a reality God is doing RIGHT NOW? But I'm only in high school? SO WHAT!?! If you believe God is indeed God, why wait? God wants to do BIG THINGS NOW! Do you believe?

Workshop #3 (Dec 30th): God! Help Me! I Need To Be Poor!
E311(T)

Since we were little kids, we have always been taught to be the best at whatever we do: student, athlete, son, daughter, musician, artist, CHRISTIAN. But what if Jesus' intention for us isn't to be the best but to be desperately poor? What did Jesus mean when he repeatedly said, "The first shall be last and the last shall be first?" What if the key to fully encountering God, the Gospel and ourselves lies in our realization and admittance that we are all just poor? Better yet, should our hearts cry out, "THANK YOU GOD THAT I'M POOR?"

Pastor Paul Wang Jr.
English Teens Workshop Speaker

At Trinity Western University, Paul studied Business Administration and Biblical Studies before working for one of the largest real estate developers in Canada, where he was given charge of an extensive capital portfolio. In 2006, he gave all of that up to pursue theological studies at Regent College (Vancouver, Canada). Currently, Paul serves full-time as Pastor of Community Development  at Vox Veniae (www.voxveniae.com) a church that ministers to people of all socio-economic backgrounds on the East side of Austin, Texas. Vox Veniae is trying to live the church through their community space Space12 (www.space12.org) in Austin and partnerships globally in Afghanistan and India. Space12 hosts art shows, concerts, slam poetry events, computer classes, dance classes, and a book exchange program to inmates, while partnering with neighborhood associations and varying community organizations.

Paul is married to Larina, a native Seattleite. Most recently, they welcomed a new ministry partner to their team, their first baby Paul Jacob Grayson.

Workshop #1 (Dec 28th): Born This Way
E114(T)

Ever wonder why was I born Chinese? And if you were born in North America, why was I born Asian Canadian/American?  Out of all the different times and places that God could have brought you and I into this world, we were born into a certain cultural identity:  Asian. What could this mean for us?  What could it mean for our churches and our communities? Let's start thinking together about how Christ's identity brings us stronger meaning than our ethnic identities alone and how we can use our unique gifts, talents, and resources that he's given each of us as second and third generation Asians.

Workshop #2 (Dec 29th): The Crazy Glue in the Chinese Church
E214(T)

Traditional Chinese churches tend to focus on building their teenagers faith on a cognitive and internal level. From what we have seen over thirty years in North America, it is a select group, typically the 'good' kids that seem to find stickiness in the Chinese church. Let's brainstorm together, asking Jesus what is the glue that He used with the disciples? How did Jesus get strangers and even enemies to become deep friends who loved each other, and loved God, and made a difference together in world history? Let our conversation be open and willing to see that God knows a better way for us all to find a strong bond that can only come from Him.

Workshop #3 (Dec 30th): The Space12 Story: Being Connected to The Community
E314(T)

I would like to share with you the story of what can happen when a forward thinking Church can bless their young people to dream big dreams for their communities. This is our story. Space12 is our humble effort to live and be the church to a broken part of our city. Let's have a conversation together on identifying and getting you plugged into the broken places in your city.

Workshop #1 (Dec 28th): Mission Possible: Impacting Your School For God
E112(T)

You may not realize it, but God has perfectly positioned you on an incredible mission field: your school. This is your territory, your area of influence, and God is calling you to be His hands and feet as He reaches out to the students in your school. Will you help Him? In this workshop, we will talk about ways you can influence your school for Jesus, and lead others on a journey towards God. Plus, we'll encourage you with amazing stories of students like you who have made an incredible difference in their school.

Workshop #2 (Dec 29th): Evange-what?: Sharing Your Faith After CCCWC
E212(T)

Being here, meeting God, sensing His presence, and being reenergized to serve Him is awesome—but sooner or later, we have to go home to the dreaded "real world"—our school, our family, our church, or our job. But this weekend can be a catalyst to change everything in your life if you're willing to let God do it. Sharing your faith can be scary and intimidating but we can help you get past all that. In this workshop, we'll teach you some principles and give you some practical examples, resources and encouragement to help you take what you've experienced here and bring it home.

Workshop #3 (Dec 30th): There Are No Stupid Questions
E312(T)

Have you found it difficult to pursue a relationship with God in the midst of your secular high school? Do you have questions about your faith or how to be a positive influence in your school or what it looks like to be a follower of Christ? This workshop is created for you to bring your questions and comments, or simply raise discussion.

Michele Unrau has been serving with DRIME since 1999. By using drama to share her faith, she has been able to minister on the streets of Vancouver, BC and all over the world. She is DRIME's missions coordinator and helps facilitate missions teams year round. Most recently in July 2011, Michele led a team to Hong Kong sharing Jesus at the schools and on the busy streets. Michele currently lives in Vernon, BC and is married with a 7 year old son and 5 year old daughter.

DRIME's mission is to "make Jesus inescapable" around the world. By using drama and evangelism, the Gospel is shared in a clear visual way that people of any language or culture could understand. DRIME has taken this message to Brazil, Kenya, Paraguay, Benin, Hong Kong, Thailand, Ethiopia, Russia and more since it began in 1994. Come learn some dramas and hear more about how you can use this tool to reach out in your community or as a mission team.  For more information about DRIME, check out www.drime.com or look up DRIME on facebook.
Workshop #1 (Dec 28th): Sharing Christ Creatively: Using Drama as a Tool for Evangelism
E113(T)

Who is the Man in White? Does Jesus still reach out to the broken? Does He really want to heal me? These are some questions that people may have when they see Jesus portrayed through street drama. Come learn a drama (Ragman and/or Liquid) and experience how Jesus takes the pain we have to the Cross and brings freedom and healing! In this session we will also discuss how to start a spiritual conversation and share your faith boldly. If you or your church group are interested in creative evangelism, or planning a mission trip, this would be a great tool for you!

Workshop #2 (Dec 29th): God Speaks Any Language: Discover God in Chinese Characters
E213(T)

This evangelism session will go through the tract "Discovering God in Chinese Characters" as an interactive way to share about Grace, Redemption, Sacrifice and more. God reveals himself beautifully in Chinese characters if we only have the eyes to see it! We will also learn another drama (In the Light) which tells the story of what happens when we choose our own way and fall into Satan's trap or when we choose to live for God. This drama demonstrates God's power over Satan and shows that He's the only one who can help someone break free from bondage to sin and addiction. If we are in Him we are in the Light and have eyes to see the truth!

Workshop #3 (Dec 30th): Soul Cravings: Introducing People to Jesus who Meets Every Need!
E313(T)

We all live our lives for something or someone. We want to be in control. We have deep needs of the soul that we often can't understand. Needs for love, acceptance, destiny, purpose. We will discuss "Soul Cravings" and how to engage someone in conversation that leads to Christ as their fulfillment. The drama we will learn in this session (It's My Life) demonstrates our need to fill our lives with activity and be in control. Jesus is reaching out to the characters and offering His life freely. When the characters continue to reject Him and live for themselves, they fall deeper into bondage. This drama shows that only when we surrender our lives to Jesus and accept the life He has to offer that we can truly, freely live.

Workshop Part 1 (Dec 28th) & Part 2 (Dec 29th):
Workshop 1: C112 / Workshop 2: C212

Workshop #3 (Dec 30th):

C215

Workshop #3 (Dec 30th): Spirituality of Jesus' Parables in Luke III
C315

Summary:
"Spirituality" is the popular word for the non-religious in postmodern vocabulary.  What about the believer? This workshop moves us into the world of Luke and back again.  Jesus told many parables, each with its own unique meaning and twist.  This workshop will explore the meaning and implications such parables have for the modern person who seeks to live in a "spiritual" manner.

Workshop #1 (Dec 28th):

Workshop #2 (Dec 29th):

Workshop #3 (Dec 30th):
